Your Dog Has Arthritis. Read These 5 Things Before Choosing a Joint Supplement.

The pause before getting up. The shorter walk. The familiar spot they’re slower to leave.

You notice these little changes because you know your dog. After a diagnosis, you want to understand what comes next—and how to keep caring for the everyday life you share.

Keel Joint Daily brings joint-support nutrition into the meal you already serve. Here are five things worth knowing about its formula, ingredients and place in their daily routine.

You know their little habits. You notice when they change.

When you know your dog this well, a slower start or a shorter walk can feel like a big change. A diagnosis gives those changes a name.

Now you’re choosing how to support their daily life. Their veterinary care, familiar routines and the joint nutrition you consider all deserve a clear place in that plan.

There’s still life to share.

Getting up to greet you. A gentle walk with time to sniff. Settling beside you at the end of the day. These are the moments you want to keep sharing.

The goal is more comfort in the everyday things your dog enjoys. As you work with your veterinarian on their care, keep those familiar moments at the heart of each decision.

Here are five things to look for when choosing a joint supplement.

1. Make it easy to give every day.

You already have meals, walks and the rest of their care to think about. Daily joint support should fit into that familiar day.

Keel is a powder you mix into their usual food. Measure as directed on the pouch and check that the serving is eaten. There is no separate supplement chew to give.

2. A formula you can understand.

Keel’s Membrane Matrix starts with eggshell membrane, the thin inner layer that naturally contains collagen and other connective-tissue compounds.

It combines this with collagen peptides for collagen-derived protein and green-lipped mussel for marine fatty acids. Three sources of joint nutrition, brought together in one food-mix powder.

3. Have the evidence there when you want it.

When it’s your dog, you want to know what sits behind the claims. Eggshell membrane and green-lipped mussel have been investigated in canine joint research.

The short study summaries and sources are here whenever you want a closer look.

A 2016 randomized, placebo-controlled trial of NEM® brand eggshell membrane enrolled 51 dogs. Some measures of joint function and comfort favored NEM over placebo, although results varied by measure and assessment point.

Green-lipped mussel has its own canine research. In a separate trial published in 2009, the tested Lyproflex® preparation outperformed placebo on some veterinary mobility and owner comfort assessments.

These studies help explain the interest in membrane and mussel ingredients. Their findings apply to the specific materials and doses studied; they do not establish the effect of Keel’s finished blend.

4. Know what you’re adding to their meal.

The ingredient names and amounts should be easy to find. Keel sets out eight named ingredients and their quantities per 5 g of blend.

Membrane Matrix at a glance

Ingredient What it brings Per 5 g blend
Eggshell membrane The foundation. Naturally contains collagen and other connective-tissue compounds—the combination behind canine membrane research. 150 mg
Hydrolyzed collagen peptides The protein ingredient. Collagen gives cartilage, tendons and ligaments structure. These smaller peptides provide collagen-derived protein and amino acids. 1,500 mg
Green-lipped mussel powder The marine ingredient. Naturally contains fatty acids, including omega-3s. Specific mussel preparations have been studied for joint comfort and mobility in dogs. 500 mg

The eight listed ingredients

Eggshell membraneCollagen and other connective-tissue compounds150 mg

The thin layer inside an eggshell naturally contains collagen and other connective-tissue compounds. Keel uses it as the foundation of Membrane Matrix, alongside added collagen peptides and green-lipped mussel. The soft inner membrane is the ingredient used here.

Hydrolyzed collagen peptidesCollagen-derived protein and amino acids1,500 mg

Collagen helps give cartilage, tendons and ligaments their structure. Hydrolyzed means it has been broken into smaller protein fragments called peptides. In Keel, these add collagen-derived protein and amino acids—the building blocks used to make proteins.

Green-lipped mussel powderMarine fatty acids, including omega-3s500 mg

A marine ingredient containing naturally occurring fatty acids, including omega-3s. Specific green-lipped mussel preparations have been investigated for comfort and mobility in dogs. The 500 mg listed here is the amount of mussel powder per 5 g blend, rather than a measured omega-3 dose.

Glucosamine HClUsed by the body to make cartilage compounds500 mg

The body uses glucosamine to make larger compounds found in cartilage, the tissue that cushions the ends of bones. HCl means hydrochloride, the form in this blend. This connection with cartilage biology explains why glucosamine appears in joint-nutrition formulas.

MSMA sulfur-containing ingredient in the blend500 mg

MSM is short for methylsulfonylmethane, a sulfur-containing compound used in joint-nutrition formulas. Keel lists 500 mg per 5 g of blend.

Chondroitin sulfateIn cartilage: helps hold water200 mg

In cartilage, chondroitin attracts and holds water, contributing to the tissue’s ability to withstand pressure. That water-binding role helps explain its place in joint-nutrition formulas. Keel includes chondroitin sulfate at 200 mg per 5 g of blend.

Boswellia extractA botanical ingredient from tree resin100 mg

An extract from Boswellia tree resin. It adds a botanical ingredient to the formula; different Boswellia preparations have been investigated in joint research. Keel lists 100 mg of extract per 5 g of blend.

Sodium hyaluronateHyaluronic acid: a component of joint fluid5 mg

This is a salt form of hyaluronic acid. In the body, hyaluronic acid contributes to the properties of joint fluid that help moving surfaces glide. That joint-fluid connection explains the ingredient’s relevance to joint nutrition. Keel lists 5 mg per 5 g of blend.

Amounts shown are per 5 g of blend, not each dog’s daily serving. Contains egg-derived membrane and green-lipped mussel. Follow the pouch feeding directions.

After a restGetting up feels harder

You notice the pause before they stand.

You miss how easily they used to come over to you.

They take a little longer to leave their bed. You find yourself watching those first few steps, wondering how comfortable they feel. Getting up and settling down with more ease is one of the everyday goals to bring into their arthritis care plan.

What matters: getting from their favorite spot back into the day.
